Day 11
Today is day 11. As far as the challenge goes it was quite simple, we had a group spa day. It was wonderful to come together and just pour into ourselves. Fellowshipping with likeminded women is a necessary part of selflove and self-care too. We all need someone to lean on when life gets heavy. I appreciate my tribe.
Today did raise a question for me though. What’s the difference between maintenance and pampering? For me nails, toes, hair, lashes and brows being done are my baseline, basic grooming and I can honestly do most of it myself. Why is it that when we groom its considered pampering and men can go to the barber shop and its grooming?
Its such a stigma on women caring for themselves. SelfLove and SelfCare shouldn’t even have to be a movement. We are so quick to pour into others and support the dreams of others but forget ourselves. Today I salute all the women that took time to care for themselves. I love every bit of it!
Like sister Heather Headley said in “Me Time”, sometimes:
I need some me time
Not some you and some I
Just some me time, oh—
I need some she time
Not some him and some her
Just some free time, oh—
I wanna run with my girls
Hit the club, hit the mall
Get my nails and hair done
Spend a day at the spa
Boy you ain’t gotta worry
There ain’t nothin’ goin’ on
I need some me time
That’s all, and that’s all
Signing off,
Ms. Raqi, A Healing Heart
