I hope where ever you are if you are melonated you yelled:
I’M BLACK AND I’M PROUD!
It’s black history month and I try my hardest to own and honor our history and ensure I teach my children the same. I’m raising the leaders of tomorrow, I have three black sons. Future fathers, husbands, spiritual coverings, presidents, civil rights leaders, teachers and guides.
This weekend we watched a few documentaries about our ancestors. I learned from my grandmother that it was up to us as black people to educate our children about the past. She gave us books and we had to write book reports in the summer. We was black all year!
First off black history didn’t start here in America and it’s not like they teach it in school.
All the school teaches is MLK, before he came to the light. In his last interview he realized integration was sending his people running “into a burning building”. It was hostile as ever. We just wanted equality, not revenge and they still let racism and hatred be the “reason” for bondage and mistreatment that’s still occurring today. They make kids think our fight our plight and history started with slavery ended with the the civil rights act.
Regrettably it didn’t and my 6 and 8 year old really didn’t understand why white people would be this way. What about our white “aunties” (you know all your black mama’s friends auntie) are they this way? I had to teach my young boys about racism.
Black people are now too proud to take that shit! We have guns too! We marched, we have land, we have careers, we have money we have a piece of the American pie and we ain’t giving shit back!!
We were watching Mandela: A Long Walk To Freedom and realized we are still walking it. I had to tell my boys that racism still exists. That it’s roots are in fear of inferiority (the TRUTH that’s why they mad) and they only overpowered our ancestors by guns the first time now they use social engineering. We talked about why someone got beat down like Madela’s friend a couple weeks ago. In my Nina Simone voice, and Memphis made me lose my rest but AMERICA GODDAMN!! MY boys watched that almost 100 years later that this racism demon still lives and breathes. Not much has changed except US!!
Give me freedom or give me death and I mean it! I know the only way we change our people is by starting with our ripple and how we raise our babies. Teach them, don’t let them create the narrative TELL THE TRUTH! So my boys know what they come from they have personal goals but they also know how to handle themselves if they encounter a racist person rather he be a teacher cop or other piece of trash.
ONLY THING SHRINKING IS HAIR!
WE BIG PROUD “ROUND HERE
Ok second chance:
SAY IT LOUD!!!✊🏾
