Iron sharpens iron is a mantra I live by. In my professional life often you will hear “as Raqi says iron sharpens iron” as they share best practices with their colleagues. It’s literally what has made me great at my job at every level. I’m not college educated. I’m well surrounded. I glean from those around me and it helps me get better.

It’s a biblical principle that I’ve heard my entire life but until I wanted better I didn’t get it.

If you rub iron against a softer metal it will destroy it.

I spent so much of my life running from circles that I would feel “small” in all because I had to be the best. I learned the hard way if you are the smartest, richest, most accomplished of those around you your growth will be stunted.

In my personal life I take the same approach. I want to get better!

I love my people. They are truly iron!

I no longer have to be the strong one, the spiritual one, the insightful one, the one that takes the kids all at once (whew chile), the one who will let you hold a few til payday. Nah son that ain’t me no more.

My squad got me!

When I’m having a bad day I can tell my people my code word and they know I’m not feeling my best so that conversation may have to go another way to keep us both healthy. I have a wellness community that I can go to for help with all things spiritual. I have S.E.L.F. that keeps me focused even when I’m all over the place. When I need some wisdom or insight my girls on the East coast gone stay up an hour later pour into me. I got MissNay that’s gone come get my babies and everybody else’s too. And I ain’t loaning nobody nothing and I don’t have to ask often but I got some big Dawgs I can call to get covered if need be.

As I got better my circle got better too!

I’m going strong.

Strong as iron thanks to Myah, Krystal, Genay, Crystal, Keycia, Stephanie and a host of others but I had to call them out because my today is due to them picking me up yesterday and many days before.
