Every morning after family prayer, my uncle gives the family a charge of living life on purpose, in purpose, and for purpose and I’m starting to realize what that truly means.

It’s not gonna always look right.

Sometimes it’s going to include frustrations your plans being delayed or canceled. Roadblocks being placed your way. Sometimes people places and things being against you. It’s not going to include rainbows flowers and still Waters all the time. Na purpose includes all that ugly shit too.

Romans 8:28 is probably one of the most quoted scriptures. Yeah I know y’all heard it especially if you had a grandma, auntie, big cousin, mama, daddy, even Neighbor that took you to a Baptist Church where black folk was, at one point somebody shouted out: “AND FOR WE KNOW all things work together for the good of those who love him” (for my FC folk read that in Evangelist Violets voice) and a lot of times they don’t say the B clause, which is “who have been called according to his purpose”

Quite often and we don’t remember that all things mean all things, the good, the bad, and the ugly. So much of what’s been placed in my life that I hated has been exactly what I needed to better me.

I’ve literally dealt with everything on the other end.

I’m a mom of a kid with cerebral palsy and epilepsy and I dealt with my kid having seizures and having to still show up in the world and I get to look over people and look out for people who are facing those type of perils. I mean the people who normally would have people that don’t understand them to deal with, but nope it’s me. and I get it! Or people with certain mental disorders or mental health hurdles I’ve either been there or dealt with somebody there so I can speak to it in a different way and I could be more empathetic, and probably most people couldn’t even imagine. I can talk to the heart broken because my heart has been broken too. and all of the things that I went through that I didn’t like we’re literally so that I could help the next person.

This message is to help me and you remember, when you choose to live on purpose in purpose, and for purpose all things includes the shit you don’t like too, don’t complain, learn how to ride the wave for we know that it will pass. For we know all things work together for the good. If you know the direction that your life is going, you know you live a life on purpose and purpose in for a purpose when bad things happened, you can tell yourself that they are working together for the good. You can be at peace. Yes as a human you will and can cry a little bit but you’re able to return to the center a lot quicker when you know.

I’ll leave you today with Romans 8:28 and we know that at all things God works for the good of those who love him who have been called according to his purpose – NIV
